Inventor : Guglielmo Marconi
Hello everyone, how are you guys? I hope you all are well and stay healthy. As usual, I will post the material provided by my teacher. This time we will discuss about the famous inventor whose name is familiar to us.
Who is Guglielmo Marconi? Is he one of the inventors? Let's discuss ..!
Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937) Born in 1874 in Bologna, Italy. The inventor of this radio got private education from a teacher. In 1894, when he was twenty, Marconi read of experiments conducted by Heinrich Hertz a few years earlier. These experiments clearly demonstrated the existence of electromagnetic waves, which are invisible to the eye, moving through the air at the speed of sound. Having an interest in science and electricity, Marconi continued his studies at the Livorno Technical Institute and the University of Bologna in 1894. He began experimenting with radio waves.
He immediately thought of the idea that these waves could be used to send signals over long distances without going through wires, so that their range exceeded that of a telegram. It is capable of constructing its own wave-generating equipment that can transmit signals to locations one mile or 1.6 kilometers away. Then, he started traveling the world to invest in his inventions. Unfortunately, after trying it in Italy, including the government, no one was interested. But Marconi never gave up and decided to move to London, England, while presenting the results of his research in 1896.

A year later, his research continued to progress until his device was able to transmit a signal up to 12 miles (more than 19 kilometers) and Marconi also applied for a patent on his invention. Finally in 1899, Marconi started to open his telegraph company called Marconi Telegraph Company in London. Although his most important patent was obtained in 1900, Marconi continued to manufacture and patented many improvements based on his own invention.
In 1901, he succeeded in sending radio news across the Atlantic Ocean, from England to Newfoundland. Serbian-American electric pioneer Nikola Tesla said he had been developing the wireless telegraph since 1893. On these claims and after an investigation, in 1943, the US Supreme Court canceled four Marconi radio patents, citing Tesla's earlier work. In 1909, the ship S.S. Republic was damaged in the collision and sank to the bottom of the sea. Radio news was very helpful, all passengers were saved except for six people. In the same year Marconi won the Nobel Prize for his discovery. And the following year he managed to send radio news from Ireland to Argentina, which is 6,000 miles away.

In 1905, Marconi married Beatrice O'Brien, daughter of noble Edward Donough O'Brien, the 14th Inchiquin's Baron. From their first marriage, they have three children, namely a son named Giulio, and two daughters, Degna and Gioia. Marconi and Beatrice divorced in 1927. In the same year, Marconi married again. This time with Countess Bezzi-Scali from Rome. From this second marriage, Marconi was blessed with a daughter named Elettra, like his cruise ship. Marconi continued to experiment with radio technology in his native Italy until the day he died from a heart attack on July 20, 1937 in Rome.
Marconi's death brought deep sorrow to the family and also three countries, the US, UK and Italy who then paid their respects by broadcasting silence for a few minutes.
