Recreation Place
Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you are still in a healthy state and keep up the spirits. In the midst of this pandemic, we must remain enthusiastic about being active even though we are at home.
Today i want to share about one of historical building in Indonesia.
The Garuda Wisnu Statue (GWK) Kencana is a tourist attraction in the form of a cultural park that presents Balinese culture. This tourist park with an area of approximately 60 hectares is located on Jl. Raya Uluwatu, Ungasan, Badung Regency, Bali. Because of its large area, GWK is divided into several tourist points.
Tourists arriving at GWK Cultural Park must first take the shuttle bus to reach the GWK Cultural Park entrance ticket counter at Plaza Bhagawan, because private vehicles and tourist vehicles cannot drop off passengers at Plaza Bhagawan. After buying tickets at Plaza Bhagawan, tourists can walk to the entrance to the GWK Cultural Park which is located at Plaza Kencana. Tourists who have purchased tickets will be given a scarf to wear.
Tourists must wear the scarf (scarf) while in the GWK tourist area. Tourists who wear short pants or short skirts are also required to use the sarong provided by GWK to enter the GWK tourist area, so that their clothes look more polite.
After entering, visitors will walk through the steps to the Wisnu Plaza. Inside Plaza Wisnu, there are giant statues of Lord Vishnu and Parahyangan Soka Giri. Parahyangan Soka Giri is a holy spring located beside the statue of Lord Vishnu. Plaza Wisnu is a favorite place for tourists to take pictures because of the legendary statue of Lord Vishnu. In Hindu belief, Lord Vishnu is the guardian deity of the universe and its contents.
Right behind Plaza Wisnu is Plaza Garuda. There is a statue of Garuda's head and a giant nest of Garuda bird eggs at Garuda Plaza. In Hinduism, the Garuda bird is a mount of Lord Vishnu. The Garuda bird symbolizes loyalty, trust and sacrifice.
The Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue holds the title of one of the tallest statues in the world because of its height reaching 120.9 meters. The GWK statue was inaugurated by President Joko Widodo in November 2018. This statue was designed by an artist from Bali named Nyoman Nuarta.
